2012/2013 Motorsport Ireland National Rallycross Championship

So we’re nearly there now… After a long Summer of waiting, Rallycross in Ireland is back!  A new Calender for 2012/2013 sees the Championship now running over a calender year.  The Championship will be over 9 rounds with 6 to count.  It all kicks of in October with a visit to the British Championship at Pembrey in Wales followed by Mondello Park on October 21st.

The 2012/2013 Calender is as follows:

7th October 2012 – Pembrey

21st October 2012 – Carlow Car Club

25th November 2012 – Kildare Motor Club

3rd February 2013 – Carlow Car Club

3rd March 2013 – Kildare Motor Club

26th May 2013 – Nutts Corner

30th June 2013 – BRC/ GP Round

20th October 2013 – Carlow Car Club

17th November 2013 – Kildare Motor Club

 

Please find a summary of amendments to Rallycross Championship regulations for 2012/2013:

1: The new championship which will run from October 2012 to November 2013 will have nine rounds with more than two weeks

between each event.

 

2: The first round is agreed to be at Pembrey in Wales, and first round in Ireland to be run by Carlow CC on 21 October.

 

3: It is hoped to run a round of the British Rallycross Championship at the end of June 2013 in Mondello.

 

4: Class representatives will be appointed to assist competitors. Junior Competitors who start with a Junior licence may continue to the

end of the championship.

 

5: In-car cameras are being recommended to control driver behaviour.

 

6: A Core Organisation team has been appointed for the full championship and a new results computer program is to be tested.  Press

officer has been appointed it is Michael O’Brien of www.rallycross.ie.

 

7: Each class will compete for its own championship and there will be no overall champion.

 

8: Information on the new regs can be obtained on www.rallycross.ie and www.irishrallycross.ie

 

9: The championship Registrar will be Tom Kirwan and registration will be automatic with each

entry.

 

10: Entry fees will be €195 and €150 for Juniors.

 

11: The detailed changes will be posted on www.motorsportireland.com

 

12: Double Points will be scored at the opening event of 2013 and Summer event of 2013.

 

13: New buggy class approved which will be known as Kart Cross as used and approved for Autocross have been approved for Rallycross to compete

with RX150s.

Carlow Car Club hosted Round 4 of the Motorsport Ireland National Rallycross Championship today.  The first Rallycross of 2012 drew a modest entry of just under 60 cars.  It was a typically damp day for Rallycross at Mondello Park, conditions prooving slippery all day long. Read more »
